Abstract:One of the most interesting tools to come out of string theory goes under the name of 'the gauge-gravity duality'.
This mathematical tool allows for exact computations in strongly coupled gauge theories and has touched on fields
as diverse as heavy ion collisions, hydrodynamics and superfluidity. After giving an overview of the duality I will discuss
how it can be used to uncover novel behavior of the fluid phase of gauge theories.
