    The Physics Department Services and Resources

    The Physics department at the Technion provides services for the physics students and researchers, students of other departments- while studying physics, researchers of other departments - with few unique services (library, Liquid Helium and Nitrogen, X-ray spectroscopy, Mechanical workshop).

    This tab includes a short description of the services, how to get it, cost (if any).

    Please feel free to send us improvement suggestions, or criticism of non-proper service. You can use the contact us form for this purpose.

    On the left side of this page you have links to administrative forms you may have to use. Unfortunately, the Technion use only Hebrew version. Non-Hebrew readers, please contact the secretariat for assistance.

      Astrophysics General  Relativity pThe astrophysics group at the Technion explores a wide variety of topics in theoretical and observational asrophysics and cosmology.

    • Atomic and Molecular Physics (1)

      Our research focuses on Bose-Einstein condensate dynamics in arbitrary optical potentials. In late 2006 we made the first observation of the a.c. and d.c. Josephson effects in a double-well configuration in a BEC

    • Biophysics and Non-Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics (1)

      The biophysics experimental activity in the department of Physics at Technion currently comprises of three groups:

      The group of Prof. Uri Sivan (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) is mainly working on molecular recognition and ionic transport;
      The group of Dr. Kinneret Keren ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) is mainly working on cell motility;
      The group of Prof. Erez Braun ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) is mainly working on population dynamics and cell adaptation.

    • Condensed Matter and Materials Physics (4)

      The CMMP group offers one of the most exciting environments  for graduate studies in condensed matter physics. Research within the group spans a wide spectrum of subjects including quantum computing, organic electronics, superconductivity, the physics of the Earth's deep interior, biomagnetism, nanoscale imaging, etc.

      Currently the group comprises 96 members, including 21 academic staff and over 50 Ph.D. students...

    • High Energy Physics (1)

      We study the Physics of Elementary Particles. Experiments study the outcome of collisions of accelerated particles, observed in detectors. Experiments and detectors carry a common name.

      The group is still moderately involved in two recent experiments:
      OPAL, studying electron positron collisions with the LEP collider,
      CHORUS, searching for mass oscillations of neutrinos from the SPS proton synchrotron.
      and in two current experiments:
      ATLAS, due to start shortly, to study proton proton collisions at record energy with the new LHC accelerator,
      OPERA, for further search for mass oscillations of neutrinos from the SPS proton synchrotron.

      The group has been involved in the CERN RD 46 collaboration for R&D concerning microtracking devices and imaging.
