Abstract:

Results of underwater electrical wire explosion and strong shock wave (SSW) generation will be presented. Namely, the subject of energy transfer from the exploding wire to the generated SSW and the discrepancy between wire temperature inferred from magneto-hydrodynamic simulations and temperature obtained by analysis of the emitted spectrum will be discussed. Formation of converging SSW by electrical explosion of cylindrical wire array and characterization of water in extreme state (P ~1011 Pa, T ~ 1 eV, rho~3 g/cm^3.) in the vicinity of the implosion axis will be reviewed as well.
