Abstract:We present a spectral theory of transport in a weak dynamically-fluctuating disordered potential, and predict the features of wavepackets undergoing faster-than-ballistic (hyper-transport) expansion. The predictions are compared to simulations and to the predictions of Newtonian mechanics based on Chirikov resonances. We find that in the high-energy limit both waves and particles display similar global behavior, as expected from the Correspondence Principle. At the same time, hyper-transport of waves does exhibit numerous fine features unique to waves, such as spectral tunneling, Bragg resonances, etc.
