We are delighted to share our graduate student Ilay Kamai has been awarded the Azrieli Graduate Studies Fellowship starting in the 2026-2027 academic year and also the the Council for Higher Education (CHE) scholarship for interdisciplinary research.
Hagai Perets, PhD advisor of Ilay, shared his excitement and added that Ilay continues the tradition of excellence among PhD students in the group, following fellow recipients of national scholarships: Mor Rosner (Azrieli), Bari Ginat (Adams), Hila Glanz (CHE), and Yosef Zinati (CHE).
Ilay develops AI models for astrophysics, learning from stellar observations across many different types of data, from time series to spectra and beyond. My work focuses on multimodal learning and on separating signal from noise, and on what these problems teach us about machine learning more generally.
