Another big win for the Yakov Krasik plasma physics group as one of their new articles was specially picked for an Editor's Choice award. The paper, led by PhD students Vladislav Maksimov and Adi Haim, along with Ron Grikshtas, Alexander Kostinskiy, Elhanan Magid, John G. Leopold and Yakov E. Krasik; titled “Time- and Space-Resolved Radiation from the Plasma Produced by High-Power, Sub-ns Microwave Pulse Gas Ionization” was published in “Plasma”.

The article maps the evolution of rapid plasma formation along and across a gas filled waveguide, this plasma forms due to very high powered microwave pulses causing a fast ionization process that creates an avalanche of plasma formation which continues building long after the microwave pulse leaves. This is the first time such time and space plasma evolution mapping was shown in sub-ns and micrometer resolutions.
