Abstract:

Power-law correlations are associated with interactions, criticality, or non-isotropic driven non-equilibrium systems. In this seminar, I will show that they can also arise from a local time-dependent fluctuating potential or force. This happens even when the underlying medium is non-interacting or has short-range interactions. Furthermore, the correlations will be shown to lead to power-law decaying interactions between two fluctuating objects.
