| Abstract: | Ultracold atoms trapped in optical lattices are providing a new laboratory to study quantum magnetism in regimes not usually
accessible in materials. The degeneracy in the hyperfine degree of
freedom in such systems allows for the creation of a variety of novel
quantum phases, including Bose-Einstein condensates that are magnetic
in nature, as well as SU(N) symmetric Fermi liquids. This workshop
will focus on the potential of these systems as a new arena for
investigating unconventional quantum magnetism.
