A new look at the scaling relations of Giant Molecular Clouds

We reanalyze the velocity dispersion – surface density relation of Giant Molecular Clouds. This analysis reveals a transition from virial to super-virial velocity dispersion at a self acceleration of about 10−8 cm s−2 . Similarly, there is a transition at an H2 number density of about 600 cm−3 . Possible implications are addressed.
