Abstract: | Dwarf galaxies have traditionally been an important probe of the dark matter. The sheer existence of dark matter in the majority of these galaxies places important constraints on the nature of the dark matter particle. NGC1051-DF2 is an Ultra Diffuse Dwarf galaxy that has attracted a great deal of attention recently. The observed kinematics of 10 mass tracers is consistent with no dark halo. I will present various problems related to the “no dark halo” scenario and further present an analysis (using full phase space distribution functions) that allows for the existence of an appreciable amount of dark matter. |
