Abstract: | Stars with masses exceeding 8 solar masses may undergo a core collapse supernova (CCSN), the exact mechanism of is disputed. The jittering jets explosion mechanism proposes that stochastic convective motion, amplified by instabilities, results inĀ intermittent jets that explode the star. I show that for a wide range of masses, 1D simulations exhibit convective motion that when scaled to corresponding 3D simulations, are sufficient to supply the jittering jets explosion mechanism for CCSNe. The resulting remnant masses are consistent with the formation of neutron star. |
