Abstract:

Imaging ultrafast electron dynamics in nanosystems has the potential to reveal quantum many-body physics on short time scales.

Here we will show a new pathway to realize such imaging with low-energy electron holography. We fabricate single-atom tips (SATs) to obtain a point-like electron source, which is critical in obtaining high spatial resolution in our electron microscope.

We also demonstrate our progress towards obtaining attosecond electron pulses by shining femtosecond electron pulses on our SATs, giving us extremely high temporal resolution. Our   approach will be applied to plasmonic dynamics in low-dimensional

nanostructures.
