Searching for muonic force carriers with ATLAS

Abstract:

Muonic Force Carriers are non-universal mediators of a new type of force, which can couple muons to a dark sector. Contributions of Muonic Force Carriers to the muon magnetic moment could explain the long standing discrepancy between theory and measurement of the muon g-2 in a wide range of Muonic  Force Carriers masses and couplings. We will present a novel search for these force carriers with the ATLAS experiment. In the search, ATLAS is used as a fixed target experiment for muons  produced at the LHC collisions.
