Abstract:

Radiation at thermal equilibrium has been a triggering problem underlying the quantum revolution. Since then, this problem has been revisited recurrently in a wide range of contexts either in physics or in engineering. Examples are abundant in condensed matter, statistical mechanics and quantum field theory among others.

Radiation far from thermal equilibrium is a problem of wide and obvious interest, yet still largely uncharted despite important advances. This talk aims to present a hydrodynamic description of non equilibrium radiation.
