Abstract:Building a practical quantum computer is hard and will require fundamental improvements in our understanding and control of quantum systems. This talk will discuss the challenges and also present recent theoretical and experimental advances in our efforts at the University of Wisconsin to develop potentially scalable qubits fabricated from quantum dots in silicon/silicon-germanium heterostructures. This will be a followup of the colloquium of 20 May.
