The Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) Awards were presented during the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) International Pulsed Power and Plasma Science conference (22 – 28 June 2019, Orlando, Florida, USA).

Among 65 considered applications of PhD students around the world, only 4 students have received this award and among them 3 students from our Physics Department:

  • Yang Cao (Supervisor: Yakov Krasik): The interaction of a high-power sub-nanosecond microwave pulse with preliminary formed plasma in a waveguide
  • Itay Gissis (Supervisors: Ehud Behar): Laboratory Astrophysics – Cold Absorption
  • Alexander Rososhek (Supervisor: Yakov Krasik): Shock waves generated by underwater electrical explosion of a single wire

The purpose of these awards is to encourage both outstanding student contributions and greater student participation as principal or sole authors of papers as well as to acknowledge the importance of student contributions to the fields embraced by the NPSS.

Congratulations!
