Abstract:We expect from turbulence fragmentation, mixing and loss of coherence. An inverse cascade, however, proceeds from small to large scales and brings some self-organization and eventually appearance of a coherent system-size condensate.
I shall briefly review what we know (little from theory and a lot from experiments) about turbulence-condensate interaction. The main focus will be on 2d fluid turbulence where the condensate is a vortex, but brief comparison with a Bose-Einstein condensate will be given.
Applications to atmospheric phenomena will be briefly discussed.
