Abstract:

Since the growth of structure in the universe begins at the time of radiation-matter equality (~0.4 eV) all tracers of dark matter clustering are expected to be sensitive to this or smaller energy scales. We explore the possibility of using galaxy cluster number counts, as well as cluster correlations, obtained from ongoing SZ surveys (such as SPT and PLANCK) and a possible future CMB space mission (EPIC) to set upper bounds on the total neutrino mass. The expected 1-sigma constraints from the SZ surveys of SPT, PLANCK and EPIC are 0.44, 0.28 and 0.12 eV, respectively, if the information encoded in the lensed-CMB is ignored.
