Abstract: | Polaritons are composite excitations that arise from the resonant interaction between light and interband transitions (excitons) in a quantum well (QW) embedded in a microcavity. When a two-dimensional electron gas is present in the QW, the polaritons arise from vertical transitions at the Fermi edge. I studied the in-plane dispersion of Fermi edge polaritons in various GaAs/AlGaAs modulation-doped QW's, having an electron gas in the range 0 < ne < 2x1011 cm-2, by measuring the angular dependent photoluminescence spectrum. The polariton dispersion curves are well described by the coupled-oscillators model. |
