Abstract:Trying to build a better paradigm of galactic bulge formation. Common knowledge
says that bulges are formed as the result of merging galaxies- however this is
challenged by recent observations which tell us that 70% of all the
stellar matter, in the MW neighborhood, is in form of pure discs- a fact which
is hard to reconcile with the hierarchal nature of galaxy formation.
