Professor Emeritus
Eulogy for Gad Eilam by Moshe Moshe
We are mourning the death of a dear friend and distinguished physicist, Prof. Gad Eilam, who passed after a serious illness.
Gad, an outstanding graduate of the Hebrew Reali School, received his bachelor's degree from the Hebrew University, a master's degree from the Weizmann Institute, and a Ph.D. at the Technion under the supervision of Prof. Arnon Dar. He stopped his Post-Doctoral research in Canada to return to Israel and fight as a tank soldier in the Yom Kippur War before returning to continue his research.
Gad has important achievements in theoretical high energies physics. His works on the decay of elementary particles, symmetry breaking, the role of the Higgs particle in the standard model, and more, are especially well known. At the Technion, Gad was Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Dean of Students and Vice President for External Relations and Resource Development.
We regret the passing of Gadi, it is a great loss for his family, his friends and the world of science.
