With great pride, we congratulate Technion Professor Joshua Zak for being elected as Fellow of the Israel Physical Society (IPS)
“for his contribution to condensed matter physics and in particular for the discovery of the magnetic translation group and the KQ representation also known as Zak representation and for the discovery of the topological phase in the band theory of solids known as Zak phase”.
The IPS Fellows were announced in a ceremony held during the 64th IPS annual meeting in Jerusalem earlier this month.
Professor Zak was previously awarded the notable Wigner Medal 2014 “for his discovery of the magnetic translation group and the phase and transform that bear his name”.
