ASRI

The Technion began a collaboration on social media with the Instagram page of "halal.il". The collaboration exposes youth and undergraduate candidates to the space research conducted at the Technion. For the occasion a short video was produced introducing the Asher Space Research Institute (ASRI) at the Technion to “halal.il” followers (click here to view).

ASRI, named after Norman and Helen Asher, focuses on innovations in space research and technology while also promoting space education. Over the years, many varied projects have been carried out at ASRI in various fields related to space. The research at the institute is led by two faculties at the Technion – the Physics department and the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, and the head of the institute is alternately – from our department, currently Prof. Yoram Rozen, and from the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.

At the beginning of 2022, three Technion projects will be tested onboard the International Space Station, as part of the Ramon Foundation and the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology’s “Rakia Mission”. One of the selected experiments is GALI - gamma-ray burst localizing instrument, led by Prof. Shlomit Tarem and Prof. Ehud Behar of our department.
