Abstract:

Underwater Electrical Wire Explosion (UEWE) is accompanied by nanosecond timescale solid state-liqid-vapor-plasma phase transitions at extreme conditions. The conductivity of the matter experiencing these phase transitions can be calculated by using various theoretical models developed over the years. In the seminar, I will present the experimental measurements of Al, Cu and W conductivities during UEWE and compare them with simulations which were carried out using theoretical models.
