The Technion and the Physics Department hosted on November 5th 2019 the Director General of Japan’s Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS/JAXA) Professor Hitoshi Kuninaka and his colleagues, who came to visit with the Director General of the Israel Space Agency Mr. Avi Blasberger, in order to seek possible collaborations.


The Japanese guests described their astrophysical mission XRISM (X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission) to launch an X-ray spectrometer with unprecedented resolution, and their Hayabusa2 mission to impact the asteroid Ryugu 162173 and bring back asteroid-dust to Earth.
