Iftah Galon Receives 2025 Frontiers of Science Award

26 February 2025

Congratulations to our alumnus Iftah Galon (PhD 2014) on Receiving the 2025 Frontier of Science Award from the International Congress of Basic Sciences for his paper " ForwArd Search ExpeRiment at the LHC" (e-Print: 1708.09389), along with Jonathan Feng, Felix Kling and Sebastian Trojanowski.

About the Frontiers of Science Award. The FSA was inaugurated in 2023 under the auspices of the International Congress of Basic Sciences (ICBS), and sponsored by the City of Beijing and the Yanqi Lake Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Application (BIMSA). The FSA is awarded to a recent paper, recognized for a major breakthrough in its field. Each year, researchers worldwide are invited to nominate candidates for the award. A panel of renowned experts is asked to review and select a shortlist of award candidates in each research area. A Global Committee is appointed by the ICBS to recommend winners from a pool of shortlisted candidates from different research areas. An FSA recipient is invited to the ICBS to accept the award in person in July 2025 in Beijing.

These tracks can be analyzed to identify the flavor (type) of neutrino involved, its energy (speed), and whether it is a matter or anti-matter neutrino. (Photo credit: The FASER Collaboration)
