Professor Weiss was the inventor of the LIGO observatory, which under his leadership took about 40 years to conceive, develop, build, and operate. Beyond his pioneering scientific achievements, he was an exceptional human being who inspired generations of scientists and students.
In 2017, he was awarded the prestigious Harvey Prize at the Technion and honored us with a memorable visit as part of the award ceremony.
We honor his memory.
