Congratulations to Vladislav Maksimov, Adi Haim, Alexander J. Kostinskiy, Yang Cao, John Leopold and Yakov Krasik for their recent article titled “Helium and hydrogen gas ionization by a sub-nanosecond high-power microwave pulse” published in “Physics of Plasmas” journal. Their work was chosen as “Editor’s Pick”.
The research group presented for the first time parameters of plasmas formed due to ionization of different gases at different pressures by ultra-short (<1 ns) and up to 600 MW peak power microwaves with frequency of 9.6 GHz. The results obtained are important for understanding physical phenomena (frequency up-shift, power enhancement due to pulse compression, total absorption, etc.) which accompanies such powerful microwaves propagation in gases.
Congratulations!
