Abstract: | Several fundamental questions particle physics remain unanswered by the standard model. The substantial dataset of LHC pp collisions collected by ATLAS provides an unprecedented opportunity to seek answering these questions. Generic searches for new heavy diboson resonances are excellent probes for physics beyond the standard model. The failure of traditional reconstruction techniques to provide sensitivity to diboson resonances with masses above 1 TeV requires us to develop specialized techniques. Using these techniques, we observe an intriguing excess of events at around 2 TeV by the end of the first run of the LHC. Other interesting LHC results will be discussed as well. |
