Abstract:

X-ray deficient cavities appear in many X-ray observations of clusters of
galaxies. The inflation of such cavities is usually attributed to jets
launched from the AGN. In some cases, "chains" of such cavities - multiple
cavities appearing on either side of the AGN and which aligned on the same
axis, are observed. We present hydrodynamic simulations that indicate that
beside the common explanation of multiple jet launching episodes, there is a
possibility for one launching episode to create multiple cavities via
various vortex fragmentation mechanisms. The simulations, along with the
fragmentation mechanisms will be presented and discussed.
