Abstract: | In this talk we will show how the disc-migration scenario cannot account for the observed distribution of eccentricities and inclinations among exoplanets. However, eccentric planets and misaligned hot Jupiters can be produced via planet-planet interactions in multi-planet systems. We will review the different mechanisms that can lead to eccentric and inclined planets. However, in order to take place, such mechanisms require specific initial conditions. We will show that such initial conditions could be achieved early in the lifetime of the system, when planet-disc interactions are the dominant kind of interactions. Of particular interest will be the resonant migration of two planets, which can excite the eccentricities and inclinations to high values, despite the presence of the disc. |
